Master of Russian Cut Out Animation Yuri Norstein gave a presentation/lecture at The Evergreen State College last night. We were lucky enough to get tickets (thanks to
Stefan)- although the ticketbooth turnips tried to sell my ticket to someone else. I had him sign the top one and he thought it was funny. Here is a link to his great animation
Tale of Tales. And here is his
Wikipedia.

Wow!!!! I didn't even know he was still alive!!! Fantastic!! I am going to look him up and see if he's giving any talks near me (though you're probably as near to Vancouver as he'll get) - lucky you...
I LOVE hedgehog in the fog. I think about it all the time. Fascinating man.
P.S. Nice drawings!
Thanks Muffy!
Awesome. Did he mention anything about The Overcoat?
Awesome! Great drawings of him. I saw him when I was in school and someone asked him if he used a computer and he held up these tweezers that he used to manipulate his cut-outs and said, "Zis! Is my computer!"
Riley- He showed half an hour of the Overcoat! It was amazing!!! The facial movements and the crinkles in everything were unbelievable. I asked him when he thought it might be finished and the traslator said "It is pointless for me to even think about- that half hour took 20 years." There was also no sound- so that was a bummer- but I guess he wrote a book on animation called Snow on the Grass that might get published in English at some point.
I really like when people are expressing their opinion and thought. So I like the way you are writing
